HOOD MYTH: “The cross is a symbol of homosexuality”
Yeah sounds ridiculous right?
First this is based on the false assumption that Christianity was stolen from Egypt. And second since the Egyptian cross was an Ankh which supposedly was a symbol of the sexual union of male (bottom part of Ankh) and female (circle, top part of Ankh), then Christians are perverting nature?
So since the cross is composed of two (male parts) crossing each other, and catholic priest have been known for homosexual behavior, then that qualifies it as a homosexual symbol? (Smh… I mean really smh…).
STREET FACTS: The Ankh has NEVER been documented by the ancient Egyptians as a sexual symbol (yeah I’m waiting for your papyrus). It was a symbol for life. Some scholars even give the Ankh such a mundane representation as just being a symbol for a sandal. Some speculate its representation with electricity. But it has NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX!
In the cross Christians see persecution and life in the Messiah. The cross to Christians represents YHWH’s great love. Knowledge of the cross is central to all sound doctrine. There is healing in the cross of Christ.
The Christian cross was never originally used as any sort of sexual symbol.
(There will be a separate more in depth essay on the history of the cross, and what the cross means to Christians).
